If you haven't heard, the south has been invaded with the 13-year cicadas. I, personally, think they're disgusting, but they don't bite and they don't seem to be harming the trees so I guess I can live with them.
Mad, on the other hand, LOVES these things. She picks them up and plays with them like they're dolls. At her kindergarten graduation, when asked what she wanted to be when she grows up she said scientist. I asked her what kind of scientist on the way home from school and she said "Bug scientist! So I can study cicadas!" I love that kid.
And when I say "invaded" it is not an exaggeration. Billions to TRILLIONS of these very loud, giant bugs.
And that sound? It's like that EVERYWHERE YOU GO. You have to scream at the person next to you when you're outside. It is no joke.
