Yesterday was...

...this kid's 6th birthday.

She rocks my world. 

Camping!

Ok, as promised, pictures from the camping trip.

Matt bravely took the two older kids camping in the woods all by himself. He chose a state park that was only about an hour from our house so if it all went downhill they could come home quickly enough. Ollie is still a little young to be dealing with all that, so he and I stayed home. For 3 days. By ourselves. It was weird.

One of the days, however, Ollie and I drove to the campsite to check it out and go for a hike. I mean, clearly I had to take pictures of their first camping trip.

Does Matt look tired? He didn't sleep well. We're currently still trying to find a camping bed that he won't complain about.

The campsite was on a little cul-de-sac with a bunch of other kids and they all rode their bikes together.

Mad took a picture of the boys and I. It's rare for me to be in a picture.

So anyhoo, we headed off for the hike. This park had a ton of falls to check out, along with some pretty ridiculous cliffs-to-our-doom. Seriously, they were scary. I had Ollie in the Baby Bjorn we held on the kids for dear life in some spots.

The falls, however, were gorgeous.

We finally made our way to the bottom of one set of falls and it was just warm enough that day to let the kids take their shoes off and splash in the water.

Notice how Cullen is holding up his pant legs? Well that didn't last long and he ended up, well...

...soaking wet. Luckily we were at the end of the trail. I took one artsy picture of the falls, so indulge me for a moment.

"Ooooooh. Ahhhhhh."

We made our way back to the campsite, changed Cullen, and relaxed by the fire.

I have to give Matt mad props for taking on two kids in the woods for two nights. They both had so much fun. I'd left before the sun went down so I didn't get any night pictures, but I heard it was full of s'mores and scary stories with the neighbor kids. I'm so jealous that I missed it. Next time for sure!
